Equipment & maintenance

Homesteads accumulate equipment fast. A tractor, a mower, a couple of chainsaws, a tiller, a generator for when the power goes out. And then you're trying to remember when you last changed the oil or if you sharpened the mower blades this season. This section keeps track of all that.

Equipment inventory

Add each piece of equipment with its make, model, year, and serial number. You pick a type (tractor, mower, chainsaw, tiller, generator, pump, trailer, implement, hand tool) and a status (active, stored, needs repair, retired). You can filter the list by status too, which is nice when you just want to see what's broken.

You can also record the purchase date and price, and the app calculates total cost of ownership including all maintenance expenses.

Maintenance log

Each piece of equipment has a log where you write down what you did and when. Changed the oil? Sharpened the blades? Replaced a belt? Just put in the date and a short description. It's not fancy, but when something breaks six months later, you can look back and see exactly what was last done.

Recurring maintenance reminders

You can create reminders like "Sharpen mower blades" every month or "Change tractor oil" every 3 months. They show up as recurring tasks alongside your other homestead chores. The equipment page also shows what's coming up and what's already been done.

The dashboard also shows upcoming equipment maintenance, so you'll see it during your morning coffee check even if you don't go into the equipment section.

Status tracking

When something breaks, mark it as "needs repair" and it shows up on the dashboard. When it's fixed, flip it back to active. You can also retire old equipment without losing its history. Mostly it just answers the question "what's broken right now?" without having to walk out to the shed.
