Privacy Policy

Who we are

Homestead Planner is a web application for managing homestead tasks, livestock, gardens, and journals. It is operated by Mads Justesen. You can contact us at hello@homesteadplanner.net.

What data we collect

When you use Homestead Planner, we collect and store:

• Account information — your name, email address, and encrypted password
• Homestead data — tasks, animal groups, animals, garden plans, plantings, journal entries, produce logs, layout elements, and any notes you create
• Photos — images you upload to journal entries

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the Homestead Planner service to you. Specifically:

• To display your tasks, animals, gardens, journal entries, and other homestead data
• To send you transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, homestead invitations)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use analytics or tracking scripts. We do not serve ads.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Homestead Planner:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, data storage, and backups. Our servers are located in the EU (Ireland, eu-west-1).
• Resend — transactional email delivery. See Resend's privacy policy.
• Mapbox — satellite map imagery for the layout planner. See Mapbox's privacy policy.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers in the European Union (AWS eu-west-1, Ireland). Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. All connections to Homestead Planner are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

We maintain regular backups to protect against data loss.

Cookies

Homestead Planner uses only essential cookies required for the application to function (session management and authentication). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookies.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data via your account settings
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data — contact us and we will provide your data in a standard format
• Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your personal data and homestead data is permanently deleted from our servers. Backups containing deleted data are rotated and overwritten within 30 days.

Children

Homestead Planner is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email. The latest version is always available at this page.
